Hello, My Darling

 The Fraed is a musician from Vienna, Austria. He began singing in the local church choir as a child, later receiving classical music training (flute, double bass), but later switched to jazz and rock – and has never looked back... He plays numerous instruments and has basically been making music of various styles his entire life: from baroque to free jazz – he even played in an ensemble for traditional austrian alpine folk music, the ‘Thalheimer Stub'nmusi’.
Later, he played in several local bands and projects in Vienna (The Continental Change, Art Game Rhythm Tube, Meet The Beat, etc.), worked as a studio musician for several years and toured half of Europe. A few years ago, he started his solo project under his stage name The Fraed in order to realise his musical ideas without compromise.

Most of the instruments and vocals on this track were recorded and produced by The Fraed himself:

"I want to record the material I love, no matter how long it takes – and sometimes it takes an incredibly long time before I'm satisfied. A nightmare for any producer who has budgets and deadlines in mind. But I don't accept half measures when it comes to producing my music. I do my best and am grateful for any help – but I also insist on controlling the entire process: from songwriting to recording to release. That slows everything down, but art needs time to mature, and I need time to develop."

 frEnk has been active in the underground rock scene since the early 1980s, in bands such as Overload and Frenk & the Lean Machine. Now he has consciously chosen a fully DIY approach: he writes all the songs himself and plays all the instruments and sings all the vocals himself. In short, he handles the entire production process himself. The music combines the energy and character of classic ’70s rock with modern production and a contemporary sound. Think heavy guitars, melodic hooks, catchy riffs, and influences from classic rock. 

In 2018, the solo EP Ready Set Go! was released, followed by the 2020 album Earworm Attack with Frenk & the Lean Machine. The project is now continuing as a solo endeavor again, without the Lean Machine, with a focus on a steady stream of new releases. New singles will be released regularly—catchy, melodic, and produced entirely independently.

RNGesus first crossed our paths in the chaos of *Arena Breakout*, where late-night squad wipes and tense extractions somehow led to real conversation. Behind the gamertag was an artist carrying heavy weight—painful experiences he wasn’t ready to name in detail, but ones that had left deep scars. Music became his outlet when nothing else could reach the hurt. What started as private recordings in a quiet room slowly turned into something more purposeful. He began shaping raw emotion into melodies and lyrics that helped him process, breathe, and keep moving forward.  

Now RNGesus has chosen to share some of those songs with the world through KDBR. His music isn’t polished for radio or designed for streams—it’s honest, vulnerable, and deeply human. Each track carries the weight of someone who has sat with darkness and decided to turn it into sound instead of silence. He hopes that by releasing these pieces, others who are struggling might feel a little less alone. No spotlight, no socials, no personal story beyond the music itself—just one artist offering his therapy to anyone who needs it.

Mermaid Island has been brewing chaos in the underground LA punk scene since fall of 2022. Founded by Canadian vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Alex MacDonald, the band quickly became known for their high-octane performances. Based on building and protecting the DIY community, Mermaid Island is about connecting with each other in real life, and creating more space for charged, purposeful aggression. 

 “It was always about the shows. We have as much fun playing for no one in our lockout as we do for a packed crowd.” says MacDonald. The band solidified their presence in the LA scene before ever setting foot in a studio. They tracked most of their debut album live off the floor in two days, holding onto the same energy that keeps their shows magnetic. Mermaid Island is creating a space where people feel inspired to pick up their own instruments. “We just want to play shows with our friends so we can remember what joy feels like on this shit show planet.” 

 Mermaid Island’s sound blends high energy punk rock with early 2000s pop-punk, heavy east-coast Canadian influences, melodic vocals, and folk-tinged chord progressions.
