E.O.T.W. kicked off when Homer Electric Association hit us with a jaw-dropping $15,000 quote just to install a meter base. Our savvy property engineers said, “No way!”—opting to generate our own power instead of shelling out the cash and still facing monthly bills. That bold move sparked a revolution, and now we fuel Dain Bramage Radio with pure, off-grid grit!
The Wylie E. Shippo Memorial Energy Powerhouse - A Decade of Innovation
Step into the heart of E.O.T.W.’s might—the Wylie E. Shippo Memorial Energy Production Facility, a beast born in 2016! This Alaskan gem cranks out up to 90kW of raw power, fueling Dain Bramage Radio with unrelenting energy. In 2019, we turbocharged it with diesel production, adding grit to the grid. By 2023, hydrogen production joined the fray, pushing us into a futuristic power play. Now, we’re harnessing the midnight sun with solar, currently under construction—proof that E.O.T.W. keeps evolving to light up the tundra, disaster or not!
